This year a vague trend has been sonic drinks and dirty sodas. Sonic carries all different kinds of sodas and flavoring you can add into them. There is also a place called swig that makes dirty sodas and they just opened the first one in Indiana. Dirty sodas are used as alternatives in some religions or other circumstances since some are not allowed to drink coffee and/or hot drinks.
The most popular religion that doesn’t drink coffee is Mormons which is why dirty sodas are popular out near Utah, where the Mormon church headquarters are located.
Shalom Adetula is a senior who currently works at sonic.
“I have been working there for over a year now and it has definitely been an interesting experience. It’s very different from other fast food places, and can be fast paced at times but its very fun. I will say I’m very grateful for this job because it has given me an amazing friendship. As per drinks, I really love our strawberry snow float. Another drink you can never go wrong with is a Dr. Pepper with cherry and vanilla,” Adetula said.
Mixing sodas with coffee creamers and syrups is what goes into making these drinks. Some even ask for extra ice and fruit bits.
Junior Brooklyn Clements likes sonic and gets it multiple times a week.
“My favorite order from sonic is a dirty Dr. pepper with extra lime. It’s my go to and its super yummy. I prefer to get this drink over others because it is a lot sweeter and it is different than most drinks,” Clements said.
Sonic also has snack foods as well. A lot of the snacks are appetizers like tater tots and pickle fries.
Senior Dakota Parton likes to go to sonic in her free time with her friends.
“My orders fluctuate, depending on my mood. I usually get a size ‘route 44’ sprite, with coconut, sweet cream, and vanilla. It’s a summery, beachy drink that is delicious any day of the week,” Parton said.
