This Summer, many teens are looking to make extra cash to hang out with friends or for a sweet treat like ice cream. There are a few places in town that would make good summer Jobs. This includes places like restaurants, parks, and even camp counselors.
Dr. Diana Dickerson is a Family and Consumer Science Teacher at Mooresville High School.
“There are so many jobs out there that are accommodating to students’ schedules and depending on if they have a ride or not. Some students are pretty lucky to get internships with either parents or friends throughout the summer. I like when students find places other than fast food restaurants to work at. For example, I have some kids in HVAC, construction, and landscaping. There is so much out there,” Dickerson said.
Many high school students are getting ready to start their first jobs this summer. Although some students have jobs throughout the school year, it is easier to have jobs in the summer, in many students’ opinions, due to a more open schedule. Summer Jobs are a great way to get students out of the house, and these are also very beneficial in the next steps of life and into adulthood.

“I didn’t actually start life guarding until July, but I have always loved being in the water. I would recommend this job because it is so amazing. I have made many connections working there. Not only with co-workers but with patrons as well. I think this job has helped me open up as a person because you have to talk to people on a day to day basis,” Creech said.
Some Students do medical and pharmacy work like senior Rozelle Jump.
“I currently do pharmacy tech and I may end up going back to school for medical imaging. I have previously done inpatient and outpatient pharmacy. In inpatient, I get to fill up Pyxis machines for nurses and I can help with IV machines. I also help fill medication for patients,” Jump said.
Rozelle was able to get involved in pharmacy tech because Area 31 which is through Ben Davis High School.
