It’s Senior year! Once the seniors make it to their senior year they get a special backpack. This is labeled a “senior backpack.” The backpack is a children’s bag that kids in kindergarten would use.
Senior Quinten Gunter shows off his ninja turtle backpack at the beginning of the year.
“I think having a senior backpack just shows that we’re ending where we started,” Gunter said. “I wanted to have one that really stood out and this one looked like an actual turtle shell so it’s the one I got.”
He said he really loves having one that shows who he is and not blending in with everyone else.
Senior Adaleina Rowland has matching backpacks with three of her friends.
“They are just like my best friends so we decided we wanted to match” Rowland said. Making it to where friend groups can have fun and match is something really fun.
Senior Ashlyn Chambers is one of the friends that is matching.
“It is our last year in high school so we wanted to bring back our childhood memories. It used to be a big thing to have your favorite character on your backpack so that’s what we did” Ashlyn said. Sharing memories and reliving some of your childhood could be some of the most valuable time ever.
Senior Brooklyn Chambers is another of the quartet wearing the light up backpacks. Keeping the tradition alive is part of what they do.
“I think our matching backpacks identify who we are, Like we still have our inner child in us,” Brooklynn said.
Dean of Students Erin Bechtold is the mother of senior Kinsley Bechtold. Kinsley has a backpack that has a whole bunch with patches.
“She wanted a unique one. It doesn’t have any of the characters like all the others, but also it reminded her of when she was younger,” Kinsely said.
The final countdown to graduation. It all starts with where they began. Waiting until the time they can finish.
