This summer, a few students from Mooresville High School earned the opportunity to go to France. This is a 35 day trip that will be filled with great experiences.
Junior Faith Lawson will be going to France this summer.
“I am going to France through an IU honors foreign language program this summer. We are leaving on June third and I personally will be there until July 15 due to another field trip, also in France. Throughout this trip, we are only allowed to speak French, the whole time we are there. I am nervous, but at the same time very excited,” Lawson said.
Junior Connor O’Hanlon is also going to France this summer.
“We will be spending 35 days in Saint-Brieuc, France. We are not allowed to speak English and we can only call home for one hour a week. I am very excited to be in Paris during the Bastille Day celebration,” O’Hanlon said.
They both have completed level 3 of a Foreign Language to be able to go on this trip. French teacher Jennifer Butler is the one that helped her students find this wonderful opportunity.
“The kids went through an application process that included writing a paper with a minimum and maximum of words, but with no notes or sources. After that, they were interviewed and accepted,” Butler said.
“Both kids were accepted immediately and I am super proud of them for that,” Butler said.
