The art show brought forward beautiful colors of all sort, sculptures that filled the emptiness of the VLC, and jewelry that shined up the blue tone of the library. However, these were not the only items put onto display. The future artists were able to fill the VLC with paintings full of color, photos that were full of life and excitement, and some even had scratch art that displayed wildlife and household pets such as fluffy golden doodles, or wild rabbits hopping through the woods. The art show allows for students to put on their best pieces of work throughout the year, and at the same time, they fill the VLC with color, passion, life, and talent.
The art show started drawing in students before the show even started. The extravagant colors, sights, and scenes of the set up brought in many students towards the VLC and allowed for them to get a glimpse into what the artists had been working on throughout the duration of the school year. Mrs. Allyson Avery loved the enthusiasm brought forth by students and she expressed her pride for her students and how much they have grown throughout the school year, but not just as students, as artists as well. Avery takes great pride within her students’ work and truly takes the time to develop them as artists and people. The relationship and bond she has with her students is impactful.
“When we were setting up the show, students were coming in the VLC and pointing things out, and being really excited to see the art,” Avery said.
The winner of the art show along with many others was Lucas Shireley, a senior, at Mooresville. Shireley plans on attending Herron School of Art located in downtown Indianapolis to further his educational career in art after his high school career is completed on May 31, 2025, the day of graduation. Shireley loves his artwork and truly takes his time to develop pieces that are not just a picture frame, painting, or sculpture, to him it is so much more than that. It is special and a way of life for Shireley.
“What they write about me is true, I’m excited to pursue my art education and advance my skills,” Shireley said.
The art show allows for students to express themselves in ways that they never thought imaginable before. The show not only puts on display a students’s extraordinary work, but also a glimpse into their personality and character. The show allows for students to pick their best work and let the whole town of Mooresville, IN and beyond see their extravagant work they poured so much time and effort into.
