Every school is required to have a guidance office for the use of students to visit any time they feel the need. What are guidance offices typically used for? Well it varies for a multitude of reasons, ranging from each students’ needs.
One reason is the amount of help a student will need when trying to choose a good career path. They will receive many pathway choices to choose which best suits them. They also help with choosing the right schedule that complements their goals well. The counselors there are Mrs. Colbert, Mrs. Iams, Mrs. Mikesell, and Mrs. Mitchel. There are a couple therapists as well to help with a student’s counseling or guidance needs.
How do students sign up for academic counseling? Throughout the building are QR codes where students can sign up themselves through their phones. If a student has no access to a QR code reader or phone, they can visit the front office for help. For those who don’t know, it is the process of advising students on a number of issues that students may face throughout their educational careers. They offer Adult & Child counseling as well. The first step is to speak with a guidance counselor or administrator. This can be issued by the student, parents and or guardians. At that point a referral is made to one of their therapists partnered with.
Some important things that the guidance office helps aid in are testing, scheduling, financial aid and scholarship seeking. They help with many things college wise and setting the student up for the right classes and things beyond school. They are interested in helping kids go from highschool to college and onto the correct path for them. Guidance officers want to get rid of any factors that get in the way of their school work, so they are indeed successful.
There are many reasons as to why guidance offices are so important. They help in aiding students for their emotional needs, outside needs and future needs. Any questions or concerns can be followed up with them relating to college, the need for help, and school related activities.
