On Friday, October 27, 2023, the long awaited Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie was released into theaters. The movie can also be viewed on a streaming service called Peacock. Fans date back to the release of the first game in 2014, and many of these fans attend Mooresville High School. Since the game franchise has had such a huge success over the years, the fans have formed high expectations for the films in hope that it will follow the lore the games formed.

“I was very pleased with the movie as a day one hardcore FNAF fan,” Sophomore Ashley Harshman said.

Most long-time fans are appealed by the movie, which came as a surprise to some. It was predicted that the movie would be more directed towards younger children, however that was not completely the case. The movie is rated PG-13, due to some violence. Hence, the anticipated corny and cliche lines which would appeal to younger children were not included in the movie.

“My favorite part was when William Afton said the line, ‘I always come back.’ It was a great reference to the original story. And overall, it made me shed a tear. My least favorite part was Abby, her presence ruined the whole thing. It doesn’t completely follow the games. Vanessa, more like not my Elizabeth,” Sophomore Sam Adetula said.

Like most FNAF fans, he feels that the movie was good with following the games, but in some corners are inaccurate. Many characters had been switched or simply not included, but the main characters are most definitely there.

“My favorite part definitely wasn’t when they were building a fort. My favorite part was when Abby was saying the animatronics were her friends,” Sophomore Alyssa Stein said.

“It was pretty good, it wasn’t lore accurate though. The bite wasn’t even the real person, it was just some girl who broke in, and since when was Vanessa William Afton’s daughter?” Stein said.

Overall, viewers of the movie had positive opinions on the movie. Even with some rough edges, the movie successfully appealed to the high standard-holding fans.
