Senior Assassin has been a huge hit this year among Mooresville High School seniors. The rules of the game are quite simple. At first, seniors are assigned a random senior and the goal is to shoot the opponent with water guns. The kicker to this game, is to record or get it on video. Shooting the other opponent on school property is not allowed.
Lyndsay Boswell is a senior, who decided to participate in Senior Assassin.
“You can assassinate your classmates anywhere, but school grounds. If they have goggles over their eyes then they are safe. There is an app that we all joined that shows everyone’s location at all times. Although you aren’t supposed to break into peoples houses, if you tell the parents you just want to talk to their kid, they will more than likely let you in,” Boswell said.
A very important rule to this game is if the person is wearing goggles and gets hit, it doesn’t count. The goggles are like the shield and armor for this game. Another huge rule is that everyone must have their locations on.
Senior Jill Ramsey has eliminated many people.
“I honestly don’t wear goggles anywhere, but I’ve just stayed away from common places in Mooresville. It’s pretty easy to eliminate people if you just call their place of work and ask for permission. Most of the time their managers find it hilarious and love to help you out! Currently there are only 12 out of 84 people left.” Ramsey said.
Although the senior assassin game is organized by students, teachers love it and enjoy hearing information about it. In different states this game has been taken really far, in terms that even carry to accidents. In Itasca, Chicago, there was a group of students that had a rollover car crash playing senior assassin. two seniors were in a car together and the driver lost control while trying to assassinate an opponent. “We ask anyone who is participating in this game, to think of the consequences that come with their actions.
In the same city in Chicago, there was a group of seniors wearing ski masks that walked into a restaurant with water guns that looked very similar to firearms. After this happened an employee who had a concealed to carry license, pulled out their actual weapon. No one was hurt but this was a very scary situation for all involved.
Chad Ricchart is a School Resource Officer that decided to give his input into Senior Assassin.
“This game can be very dangerous especially for adults who have no idea what is going on. Some of this game you can easily tell that these are water guns but some it is harder to tell. Try and keep this game as light-hearted as you can and try and keep it out of public places that have a lot of people,” Richhart said.
