The girls soccer team was pumped and excited to beat Martinsville on August 21.
Senior Kaitlyn Reed was in the goalie box for the Junior Varsity game.
“I’m not usually in goal but before a game starts I try to hype myself up as much as possible. Its always an amazing game when we win but I think everyone played very well and we will just continue to go up from there,” Reed said.
As the game neared closer to half time, the girls started working together to start scoring goals. The passes and communication were precise.
Junior Lyla Jacobs explains how the Martinsville game went for her.
“As a team we were able to string passes together which helped us to move up the field and have a lot of opportunities to score. We could’ve worked on our positioning and spacing on the field,” Jacobs explains
The second half rolled around and the girls knew they had to persevere and continue to push through this game. Forward player, Jacobs scored a goal which ended up tying the game. With only seconds remaining in the second half, Senior Halle Brown scored the goal ending the game 2-1.
Brown talks about her goal.
At first I was worried for the Martinsville game because we always get our heads down and get very tired. Honestly it was one of the most physically challenging games I have ever had. It was worth it because I scored a goal,” Brown Said.
