The Esports team is preparing to compete and thrive in the upcoming season. There are approximately 15 different games in the competitions, ranging from many different developers and genres. Some of the games include Fortnite, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, Minecraft, and Super Smash Bros. The team has been meeting up every day after school to get ready for the upcoming matches. Practicing after school has helped with confidence and skill, which will be much needed while competing.
“Every day we practice for at least half of the time, and there is a video we watch for understanding the game better,” Sophomore Tetris Team Captain Kyle Lykins said.
“We have a fall season and a spring season. Once we start in the Spring, that’s when the competition is for state. We have competitions every week, then they come up with stats on who wins. Our Smash [Bros] team has won 2 state championships and our Overwatch Team has won 3. Mooresville High School has the #1 player for Smash Bros in the state, and has beaten multiple college kids and veterans. We have an upcoming Smash tournament January 27th in Anderson,” Teacher Sara Richmond said.
“If a dude keeps winning, he keeps winning until someone takes him out,” Senior Wyatt Pfost said.
