As the Mooresville school district enters the final quarter of the school year, lunch choices make their last change. While some entrees remain the same, a few have rotated. For example, due to its popularity, Doritos Walking Tacos have stayed as an entree on Tuesdays the entire year. Lunches come with a milk and vegetable, or fruit choice.
“I would say pizza, the Asian meal, and the walking taco are the most popular,” Pioneer Cafe staff Carol Cummins said.
The walking taco consists of Doritos, taco meat, nacho cheese, and toppings of choice. An abundance of students look forward to Tuesday lunch to get their hands on the walking taco. Another Pioneer favorite was the Pioneer Bowl, with mashed potatoes, chicken, and optional corn and gravy.
“My favorite was the Pioneer Bowl. White gravy, not the brown gravy,” senior Nick Isenberg said.
The Pioneer bowl was recently replaced with chicken shakers. Along with this, the pasta was replaced with Piggy Mac.
“I love the pasta. They got rid of it and it ruined my week,” senior Mabrie Lasater said.
