Each year there are many traditions for the graduating senior class. A very popular one is senior jeans. This is a fun way to express yourself and to use creativity. Some people even choose to decorate overalls. Ranging from lace, fuzz, pompoms, glitter and patches, these are all tools to decorate senior jeans.
Senior Patience Peyton did two pairs of jeans.
“I had to buy a lot of fabric and mod podge, but pintrest was my best friend throughout the process. I did two pairs because I wanted a fun pair but they did take three weeks to make since I had to let everything on them dry,” Peyton said.
On the week of homecoming, during spirit week, the seniors get to wear their jeans on Friday for blue and gold day. Everyone loves to see their jeans and enjoys talking about their process.
Makenna Alexander talks about her jeans and the process.
“It was stressful and confusing. Personally, I had no clue what to do since i’m not super creative. It did take me about two days, and I got all of my supplies from Walmart which was nice and easy,” Alexander said.
Melissa Bell is the senior class representative. She talks about her experience with senior jeans.
“I look forward to seeing everyone’s jeans. It started a long time ago with senior skirts and cords but then switched to jeans. The last couple of years, girls started doing overalls. I went to school here and still have my jeans. It was a really fun way to show the school spirit,” Bell said
