Its been a long time coming… On November 1, 2, and 3, Taylor Swift brought the eras tour to Indianapolis. She announced her concert several months back. Since then, Swifties have been preparing outfits, eating arrangements and even travel plans.
Senior Ella Davis attended two nights of the Eras Tour.
“I got my first ticket about a month or so prior, so I took the whole month to prepare. The second night I bought the ticket three days before, so I was scrambling. I had a blast at both concerts and I am so grateful for the opportunities that I was able to go to a once in a lifetime concert with such an amazing atmosphere,” Davis said.
Math teacher Kymberlee Lyell tried her hardest to get tickets to the Eras Tour in Indianapolis.
“My sister was listening to the radio station WFMS and heard that they were giving out two tickets to whoever had the “swiftie bracelet. My sister got the bracelet and we went to a pre concert party and if your bracelet matched what was in the safe then you won the two tickets. Unfortunately we didn’t win but it was a fun opportunity,” Lyell said.
Indy was a hot spot for many months leading up to the eras tour. There were restaurants and small businesses that had sections dedicated to her. There was a huge print of her up on the JW Marriot in downtown Indianapolis and even a giant friendship bracelet on Lucas Oil Stadium. Giant friendship bracelets were put on the dinosaurs at The Children’s Museum and the names of street signs were also changed to some of her popular song names.
Senior Lilly Deverick also won The Great War and was able to score tickets.
“I definitely took outfit inspiration from Taylor herself. I wanted to find something reminiscent of her looks but not an exact copy. My sister and I really enjoyed seeing everyone’s outfits,” Deverick said.
The week of the Eras tour, the convention center set up merchandise stands. This helped merch lines inside the stadium and Swifties who were unable to get tickets were able to purchase merchandise. Downtown was organized so smoothly.
There are 11 eras that she performs plus surprise songs. Swift performs for three plus hours for each show with costume changes in between each era. Touring with Swift, is opener Gracie Abrams. She is a very talented young artist who toured on the first leg of the US Eras Tour and the second leg.
It’s safe to say, Swifties from Indiana danced the night away and got to live out their wildest dreams at the Eras Tour.
