The food drive is a way to get donations for people who cannot afford food on their own. Each grade level brings in items to get points for their class, all the items that are collected are given to Churches-in-Mission.
“We do it to help the community,” Student Council Sponsor Michelle Lynn said.
Each donation is appreciated so it can help anyone who financially cannot afford food or clothes. Churches in Mission are always willing to take items. They have many different products to choose from. There are canned vegetables, soups, condiments, snacks, clothes and even toys for kids.
“It benefits lots of people as we have between 100-1000 items,” Senior Class President Sinna Zheng said.
All the items that are brought in are given to Churches in Mission and benefit the community a lot. It gives people a place to go and know they can get the food or clothes they need. It is amazing the impact just a few items can have on people.
“The food drive helps the community in many different ways,” Junior Class President Sidney Stultz said.
Each grade level is assigned an administrator and a classroom for their items to be taken to.
Freshman: Dean of Students Erin Bechtold (A102)
Sophormore: Assistant principal Zack Love (A125)
Junior: Principal Wes Upton (B209)
Senior: Assistant Principal Chrissy Owens (A115)
Cereal boxes are five points and everything else (like peanut butter or soup) is one point. The class that has the most points on the last day, November 22nd, will get to duck tape their administrator to the wall.
