When it comes to practices, it can be tiring for kids when they have practice many times throughout the week. With the color guard group, they have practiced a few times throughout the week. Their practices last from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. They do warm up but they don’t have intense workouts.
“We only do some stretching for our warm ups,” sophomore Sam Mayo said.
The biggest thing they’ll do for practice is work on what they are struggling with. They will try to get what needs the most attention done first. The sometimes alternate to something else if what they are trying to fix does not work out.
“We’ll gather around before practice and talk about what we need to work on the most and try to get those done first,” sophomore Gracie Bell said.
This year the group has a theme to their show which is called “LET’S GO GIRLS”. It is supposed to be a sound based performance which means it tells a story through a soundtrack. They have practices two nights a week for two hours each and they have 8 hour camp days on Saturday. The color guard team is composed of 11 people and they have so much love and compassion for it.
“We don’t want to focus on the score but more on entertaining the audience and finding who we are as a team,” Coach Amanda Hall said.
The team works on their show a lot and has their hard work pay off. They really enjoy performing for people and giving them something to look forward to. It’s what helps bring the team together.
