In the past years, the Brebeuf Jesuit Braves have always found themselves winning and sending the pioneers home in previous games. To what many fans thought would be another defeat, the Mooresville Pioneers pushed throughout the whole game and beat the Brebeuf Jesuit Braves 40-39. The whole team working well together helped secure the victory, but, Senior Hogan Denny had a great night with rushing for 239 yards and two touchdowns, with also picking up 10 yards per carry. Denny also threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns. The longest rush by Denny, had an incredible 80 yards this game also.

Another key factor in Mooresville’s victory was with Landon Cements and his 114 yards on the ground were an important contributor to the win.

Hogan Denny was asked what impressed him most about the victory last week and what the key factor was, here’s his response.

“The way our team, even though we got down early, and we played like it was 0-0 the whole time. Especially in the fourth quarter when we managed to get an important play done to win,” Denny said.

The game-winning kick is nothing to not talk about or ignore, all the boys collectively worked hard together to bring home a win but the game-winning field goal kick was the perfect cherry on top for the sectional victory.

Senior Levi Dorn had also a lot of good runs this last game to help with the win and also averages around 72 receiving yards per game.

Dorn was asked what could’ve been improved upon to help tonight and what could’ve been done better in his eyes, here’s his response.

“Just keeping our heads on straight if anything, when everybody was on the sidelines getting down and we need to be better about coming together as a team more to perform well,” Dorn said.

New Palestine has also been on a winning streak, facing off against the Greenfield-Central Course, defeating them 35-0 and beating Mt. Vernon 42-6. Grayson Thomas is the name of New Palestine’s star running back, averaging around 179 rushing yards per game, and 11 rushing yards averaged every play. New Palestine’s boys and the Mooresville Pioneers have been working diligently and as hard as they can this week and with both teams winning streaks and a great chance to perform very well tonight, especially the Mooresville Pioneers, tonight’s game will not be a game to be bored watching. Coach Blevins has been working hard to prepare the Mooresville Pioneers’s defense in preparation for tonight and this is what he said when asked how he thinks tonight will go.

“Tonight’s going to be a battle, we’re going to have to stop the run for sure and make sure to play defensively and offensively very well but other than that I have no predictions… our guys have been playing and practicing hard so I think we’re good to go,” Blevins said.

The Defensive Coordinator for the Mooresville Pioneers. Tonight will truly be anybody’s game but the Mooresville Pioneers will not go in thinking they will lose after proving everyone wrong and beating both Brebeuf Jesuit and Roncalli. Still, New Palestine also will not let their winning streak go so easily. Tonight’s game will truly be a good battle and a great game no matter what for both teams.
