With Dr. Jake Allen moving on to become Superintendent, that left his old position to be filled. Dr. Patrick Biggerstaff became the district’s next Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations.

He is very grateful for the warm welcome received. Having worked with Mooresville High School, as the former director of Area 31 Career Center, he came in with existing relationships and a strong appreciation for the people who live and work here.

“My role as Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations allows me to interact with people throughout our district,” Biggerstaff said.

In addition to joining Mooresville Schools, he and his wife are in the process of purchasing a home in Mooresville. They have had friends in town and attended church here for some time, but look forward to becoming full-fledged members of this community.

He grew up in Texas and had a strong appreciation for cars, sports, and friends. Eventually, he went on to study business while playing soccer and volleyball at a small university. After college, and then business school, he moved to Indiana and began working in banking and sales management. Over time, he felt called to teach and coach, so Biggerstaff earned teaching licenses in business education and special education (mild interventions).

“I then started my career as a teacher, coach, and advisor of a few student organizations. My career in education has been very fulfilling, and I have enjoyed learning and serving in different ways over the years,” Biggerstaff said.

Outside of his professional life, Biggerstaff has great family and friends who he enjoys spending time with. His wife and he have three sons and a daughter with the youngest working to wrap up his senior year of high school in a nearby district. When not spending time with others, he likes to read, watch movies, ride motorcycles, and find different ways to enjoy the outdoors.

“I have visited a number of classrooms, sporting events, offices, and Professional Learning Communities, and I am encouraged that Mooresville Schools are in such a great position. I have been impressed by the professionalism and genuine care that teachers, counselors, and administrators have for each other and their students. It is clear that there are many people in Mooresville who enjoy one another and aspire to learn and serve to the best of their ability,” Biggerstaff said.
