The Christmas Light Tour, an event all about bringing Christmas cheer to all that see. The participants put up Christmas decorations and compete to see who has the best lights all across the scheduled map. There is one big thing that happens leading up to the start of the tour, it’s a fundraiser.
This year at the fundraiser there was a raffle for many items some being a basket for your dogs and a Michael Pittman Jr. autographed football. There was surprise visits from The Grinch and Santa Clause. The Grinch was there at the beginning of the event crashing the party like always. Roughly an hour later Santa showed up and told him to leave. He then was arrested and taken away to jail so he cannot ruin Christmas anymore.
The Christmas Light Tour starts December first and goes through the entire month of December. Spreading Christmas cheer is what the entire event is about.
Justin Law is a participant of the tour who decorates the outdoors like a winter wonderland.
“What drives me to keep adding more to it is when I’m outside and all the people drive by I can hear the kids say how happy it makes them” Justin said
The community is all about bringing joy to everybody so with the festivities that go on everyone has their chance to smile.
Freshman Mason Galyan knows about the Christmas Light Tour from seeing signs in the yard.
“I think it’s a way to show peoples’ spirit and with going around looking at all the houses you might be able to find people that are more like you” Galyan said.
Bringing people together is what Mason thinks Christmas is about. It’s not about the gifts, it’s about the time you can spend with each other.
Junior Liviah Lykins is very big on decorating the inside of their house with astounding ten feet tall nutcrackers be the sides of their TV.
“I think it’s important because it’s a gloomy time especially when all the snow melts because then it’s all mushy. But with the light tour it’s something that we can do to bring happiness to all during the holidays.” Lykins said.
The Christmas Light Tour is rapidly growing and becoming more and more popular every year. With the momentum the tour hopes to get a lot of Mooresville on board participating so they can make the prize even bigger.
