With the second semester quickly approaching many of Mooresville’s seniors are on a mission to lock-in and decide their future plans or college decision. With such high-stakes for these decisions it is important to be well-informed and know what to look for in a college or life-plan.
One main factor for many seniors is how much it will cost them. Many schools offer merit based aid that is decided off of a students grape point average and test scores. Along with merit scholarships students should look at school specific scholarships once they have committed to where they are going to college. Most colleges will have a specific page on their website to help students find these scholarships.
To make the best decision for them, students should also consider what campus life will be like for them. They may even consider not living on campus and commuting to school. Factors that students should consider are if they want to be close to home or not, what extra-curriculars each school offers, and if they are interested in things life Greek Life or not.
“I’ve known I’m not going to rush a sorority, I think it’s a cool idea bur I’ve always known my major was nursing and I won’t have that much extra time,” senior Jaelynn Lucas said.
College is not always to the right choice for everyone. Many students plan to either go straight into the work force or enter into a trade.
“I’m not going to college, I plan on getting out of high school and going straight to being an electrician,” senior Jackson Engle said.
