As Spring sports get started, the Mooresville Lady Pioneers Softball team starts up their season the day after Spring Break. The Lady Pioneers have lots of firepower with many returning players this 2025 season. This year, the Pioneers have six seniors; Faith Boles, Cierra Cramer, Maddie Pierini, Reagan Bower, Avery Owens, and Sophia Culp. These Lady Pioneers are considered as leaders for this year’s softball season.
“We have a veteran team returning this season. I expect the same consistent play that we have had over the past few years. We should be competitive in every game and will continue to compete for the conference championship. We do have a couple newcomers that are playing in different positions than what they are used to, but they should improve as the season progresses. My expectations are the same this year as they were last”, Lady Pioneers Coach Traci Ball said.
The Lady Pioneers season starts up quick, as they would’ve had their first game on April 1st against Indian Creek, but due to unfortunate weather arriving, the game was cancelled. The Pioneers are coached day in and day out at each and every practice to be able to win games.
“I felt like we didn’t do bad but could have made a few better plays, and other little things that we could have cleaned up. Coach Ball is very strict, but we all know that it is tough love and that she will help us and coach us the best she can,” Senior Faith Boles said.
Last year, the Lady Pioneers ended their season in the Sectional Championship to Center Grove. Despite having lost in the sectional championship, the Lady Pioneers are back and ready for this season with even higher and more expectations to withhold as the season goes on and eventually into the postseason.
“We lost a lot of good players that we really relied on so we really need step it up this year and get better at baserunning, we need to cheer for everyone more, and we need to be more confident with each other at all times,” Senior Sophia Culp said.
