The Wagon Trails Revue is a big hit for the yearbook and newspaper staff in the middle of the first semester. Large crowds of family members and friends gather on the first Thursday and Saturday night of November to witness the show filled with many performing arts groups, and skits from the student media.
The show does not just come together by itself though. It requires a dress rehearsal the Wednesday before the actual shows to put it together. This is to make sure the performing arts groups know when to go, the people running the booth figure out how the lights and mics will run, and to make sure the skits look good for the student media group. It can be a pretty chaotic time but it is definitely beneficial for the actual show itself.
“It wasn’t actually too bad for me since I have been doing this for four years and I was prepared for it. However, it would be understandable if the freshman and sophomores were a little confused about what was happening,” senior Cora Craft said.
The groups who performed in the Wagon Trails show had many practices that helped them prepare for their performance. These could help them make some last minutes adjustments and to make sure they were comfortable and ready to perform. The band groups had many practices to help them prepare for their performance.
“Both band and jazz ensemble performed very well. Mooresville Band had been practicing every day in 6th and 7th period leading up to the show,” band teacher Jason Freeman said.
Some of the performers were even in multiple groups. Like senior Abigail Bolton who was in many acts. She was in Finesse, Madrigals, Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Spotlighters, and even had her own solo. This was an amazing experience for her.
“I had a lot of stress I was under that I feel was pretty unavoidable but it was such an amazing experience that I would not trade for anything,” Bolton said.
The Wagon Trails show is a big production that can be very time consuming for all of these performers. It takes. lot of energy and dedication to pull something together and make it the best it can be. However, the end result of it is something that everyone looks forward too.
