In November, National Honor Society held their induction for their newest members, mostly from the junior class with a few seniors joining the ranks as well. With this new batch of inductees it became time for a new group of leaders to emerge from the group.
After an interview process with a board of teachers, a decision was made about next years officer team. After careful consideration Bell was ultimately named as the next president and Craig and Cooper would share the role of vice president.
The three of them will work together to plan and make decisions for NHS meetings and events for the upcoming school year as well as being the face for their chapter of the Honor Society.
Cooper was named the co-vice president of NHS. On top of this new responsibility, Cooper juggles many other titles throughout Mooresville High School. She is a member of Key Club’s executive board, student council, band, cheerleading, and the president of Best Buddies. With being such an involved student, Cooper brings a lot of knowledge and experience to the officer team.
Craig was also chosen as the co-vice president for next years chapter. He also brings many different skills to the table with being a member of student media, FFA president, and starting his own club, Monday Morning Faith. Craigs goal as a member of this officer team is to nurture connections between NHS members. He also wants to add collaboration between the FFA and NHS.
“For us to truly help and serve the community, we must first help and serve each other,” Craig said.
President Bell has hopes to plan a large event that Honor Society will host where all different clubs can pitch their membership to the school. She calls it her “Pioneer Passion Project” and hopes it will encourage community within the school and get more students involved.
“I think that there’s importance in your community and a firm foundation in your community, too,” Bell said.
Bell brings in many different connections to her role as president. She is heavily involved in student council where she serves as class president with hopes to run for student body president next year. She is also involved in Best Buddies and has a connection with Key Club through her sister Julianna. She plans to work closely with her sister to foster more collaboration between NHS and Key Club.
Bell is already making big moves in NHS. She felt that having only three officers might be stretching the officers too thin, so she has been networking with her classmates to bring in more people willing to serve as officers. She was able to bring in juniors Lyla Kaufman and Lillyann Fox to be the secretary and parliamentarian respectively.
