Singer, Songwriter, Taylor Swift  is in the process of releasing a new album come April 19. This is Swift’s 11th studio album. She titled the new album The Tortured Poets Department. Swift has gained huge popularity in 2023 alone with her creation of the Era’s Tour. She announced a new album at the 2024 Grammys, where she won the album of the year for her previous album Midnights.

Junior Lillian Deverick thinks of herself as a die-hard Taylor Swift fan. Deverick has been a fan of the artist since the album Fearless which came out in 2008. She has incredibly high expectations for the release of the new album.

“I think it’s going to be like a cross over of Folklore and Evermore, add in Midnights pop,” Deverick said.

Along with Deverick’s love for Swift’s music, she also has a love for the drama within the lyrics. She keeps up to date on all of the newest boyfriends/love interests of Swift.

“Joe Alwyn, Taylor’s ex boyfriend, was in a group chat called ‘The Tortured Mans Club’ about how Taylor tortured him and she goes and calls her new album that because she’s the poet and he’s the man,” Deverick said.

History teacher Michael Butler has been a fan of Swift going on 15 years now. He started listening to Swift with his daughter and uses that as an excuse to continue to listen to her now. His favorite album from Swift is 1989 and enjoys the song Welcome to New York a lot. Butler tends to listen to the piano versions of songs, and finds that Swift has some great piano versions.

“I like piano version of a lot of songs and hers transition very well. It says a lot about her music making abilities,” Butler said.

Junior Ella Davis has been a fan of Swift for quite some time now. She is incredibly excited about seeing if this new album is going to be similar to her previous ones or if Swift is going to branch into a new genre. Davis believes that most of Swift’s music tends to be very relatable. Davis is hopeful this album will be the same. She went to Swift’s Reputation tour in 2018 and more recently has really not been able to stop listening to her.

“I really love Taylor Swift and how she is able to be a powerful, successful woman that girls of all ages can look up to, especially as younger girls grow up,” Davis said.
