The lights go down, a hush falls among the busy crowd; however, it doesn’t last long because as their favorite singer steps on stage the crowd erupts in thunderous cheers. With summer right around the corner, students are making plans for roadtrips, vacations, or other adventures. A highlight among the list of summer activities is attending concerts because it is something almost every student will do. Concerts are a fun way to hang out and have good experience with friends.
“I’m super excited to go see 21 because number one I’ve been such a huge fan of him and also because the thrill of being at a concert I love,” sophomore Syana Lopez said.
There are plenty of venues around Indiana that host concerts or music festivals. Some of the ones in Central Indiana are Everwise Amphitheater, Ruoff Music Center, Gainbridge Fieldhouse, 8 Second Saloon and the Old National Centre. These locations are a mix of outside and indoor facilities, so those attending concerts should be prepared for potential weather concerns. With the unpredictable summer weather, attendees of outdoor concerts should be prepared for cold at night, extreme heat and even rain.
Sophomore Rebecca Schulz is attending the Noah Kahan concert this summer and is ready for the experience.
“I’m excited because it’s my first concert and I like his music,” Schulz said.
Concerts are usually a great time, but with large crowds and the hectic energy things can get a little stressful at times. It is important for attendees to be prepared with their tickets and anything else they might need for going through security. Many venues also have a clear bag policy, which is where they will allow patrons to bring in a see-through bag that is plastic, PVC, or vinyl. This is the only type of bag allowed in some venues and makes things much easier for security.
